Franchising offers NEET solution

Official figures released last Thursday show that the number of young people not in employment, education or training (‘NEETs’) totalled 958,000 in the final quarter of 2011. Of particular concern is that 1 in 6 young women between the ages of 16 and 24 are currently not in employment, education or training.

Simon McNeill-Ritchie, Managing Director of FranchisingWorks, comments: “The number of young people not in employment, education or training remains stubbornly stuck around the one million mark, providing further evidence that we cannot rely on existing jobs alone to resolve our unemployment problem. Franchising, which creates both new business and jobs, is part of the answer to this problem”.

FranchisingWorks is helping the unemployed create new business and jobs through franchising. We provide advice, information, introductions to suitable franchisors and have developed a unique fund to lend to successful candidates with insufficient financial resources of their own.
