This year FranchisingWorks has been working with the Church of England Commission for Racial Equality to explore how they can support individuals and communities impacted by the legacy of slavery to become wealth creators. Instead of the historic legacy of being the property of other people, the vision is that through wealth creation they can pass on legacies of economic and social capital to their own families and communities, and in doing so exercise a form of restorative capitalism.

This work is in partnership with a range of community organisations, especially those representing Afro-Caribbean communities with a focus on Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, and South London. Building on the experience of FranchisingWorks with investors, training providers, and business and community mentors, we are exploring how the Church of England, its parishes, and its dioceses can deploy its resources to catalyse new programmes and enable existing programs that overcome multigenerational structural barriers to opportunity and economic disadvantage.
